PPP tries to win back ANP support

KARACHI:

In an attempt to win back the support of the Awami National Party (ANP), members of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) paid a visit to ANP Sindh chief Shahi Syed on Sunday.

According to a press release issued by the ANP, a delegation of PPP leaders, including Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Durrani, Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro, advisers to chief minister Waqar Mehdi and Rashid Rabbani visited Mardan House.

The leaders discussed the political scenario of the country, particularly the developments after the Sindh Peoples’ Local Government Ordinance, 2012. Durrani said that they honour the role of the ANP in bringing peace to Karachi. “We wish that we pass the rest of the government’s tenure together as allies,” said Durrani.

The ANP has called a meeting of its think tank to decide whether or not it should join the Sindh government.
