Olson Meets Nawaz: PML-N chief hopes for better ties
Nawaz Sharif says to Richard Olson that cordial and cooperative ties between the countries were important.
LAHORE:
PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif on Friday hoped that Pakistan-US relations will improve during President Obama’s second term in office.
In a meeting with newly-appointed US Ambassador to Pakistan, Richard Olson, he said that cordial and cooperative ties between the two countries were important for peace and stability in the region.
Thanking Nawaz for the friendly exchange, Olson said President Obama had deep respect for the people of Pakistan and viewed the country as an important friend, with which the US wished to have close and cooperative ties. The achievement of this goal would be his primary responsibility, the ambassador added.
Nawaz Sharif emphasised that Pakistan did not need aid, but greater opportunities for enhancing trade with major powers.
