Jamia Ahsanul Uloom: JUI leader condemns attack on students

SWABI: Central leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and senior religious scholar Maulana Hamdullah Jan Baba ji expressed deep grief over the violent attack on the students of Jamia Ahsanul Uloom in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area that killed six and wounded 13 students. In a statement released on Monday, he said, “Do our rulers need permission from (US President) Obama to say a few words of sympathy to the families of students who were learning the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)?” he asked, adding, “A students is a student, be it from a religious school or be it Malala. No doubt that attack on Malala was an act of barbarism, but how about attack on these students?” He appreciated the approach of the chief of Jamia Ahsanul Uloom, who sent the bodies of the students to their native areas for prayers and burial, saying attendance at their funeral in Karachi could have caused further violence.
