Extortion: Afghan national remanded
Hassan has been accused of threatening people to pay money to his organisation.

A local court sent an Afghan national on a two-day physical remand on charges of extortion. Muhammad Hassan, allegedly a member of a banned outfit, has been accused of threatening people that if they did not pay money as charity to his banned organisation there would be severe consequences. A victim of this, Nazir, a resident of Hayatabad, informed the police that he received an anonymous call threatening him of dire consequences if he did not pay Rs1.2 million to the banned outfit as ‘charity’. Hayatabad Police traced the mobile number and arrested Hassan. Police have charged him under Sections 386 and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code. He was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate Zafrullah Mohmand.
