Sri Lanka ‘A’ confirmed their place in the final of the triangular series after they achieved a nail-biting D/L-adjudged seven-run win over Pakistan ‘A’.

Asad Shafiq’s unbeaten century, which helped Pakistan post 241 for nine, went in vain as Dimuth Karunaratne overcame bad light and impressive bowling display of Junaid Khan and Mohammad Irfan to keep his side’s chances alive of making it to the final.

But a mini-collapse saw the hosts lose three wickets for four runs as Pakistan sensed a surprise comeback. But Seekkuge Prasanna played a cameo at the end to seal the win, achieved through the Duckworth-Lewis method as bad light stopped play with the hosts inches short. Shafiq earlier set the tone for the Pakistan innings with a run-a-ball 109 and added 75 with Aamer Sajjad before wickets at regular intervals halted their progress. Sheharyar Ghani scored a valuable 35 off 34 deliveries but Pakistan added just 60 in their last 10 overs, failing to capitalise on a good start.

In reply, Prasanna hit a whirlwind 30 off just 17 balls with four boundaries and two sixes that took the game away from Pakistan.

The hosts next face South Africa ‘A’, who have already qualified for the final, in a dress rehearsal for the final. Pakistan head back home with one win from four matches.
