He said that Mehran Bank owner Yunus Habib, who allegedly gave loaned money to the ISI in the 1990s, had a “criminal” past and he did not remember ever meeting him.
Nawaz also said that his party is considering to move the court against Habib’s allegations.
The PML-N chief added that he has no objections over the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) probing the case on the orders of the Supreme Court.
Earlier, the PML-N had called for an independent investigation into the case instead of the FIA which works directly under the interior ministry.
In the Asghar Khan case, the Supreme Court had found a former army chief and a former chief of the all-powerful Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) guilty of rigging the 1990 general elections (against the Pakistan Peoples Party), and ordered legal action against the two former generals.
The late former president Ghulam Ishaq Khan, retired army chief General Mirza Aslam Beg and retired ISI chief Lt-General Asad Durrani were adjudged to have “acted in violation of the Constitution by facilitating a group of politicians and political parties,” the court’s short order had stated.

I do not favor any political party but for supreme court to play this kind of roll is wrong.
The democratic system can only function in educated societies even these societies are having problems because the role money is playing in the outcome of elections and if they are unable to sideline money the democratic system will eventually fail. In Pakistan we need some one like General Franco of Spain who will root out corruption bring literacy rate over 90 % then only the democracy can work otherwise we will fail as a nation mark my word.
It is very naïve of us to think that ISI is not active in our politics they are and they should because today’s politics is all based on money and with such corrupt politicians and mass illiterate population who knows who has sold himself for the foreign agenda if I have a choice to place my trust in a general or a politician who do you think I would trust?
@Fahd: Supreme Court ruling so close to election clearly shows the intent to damage NS which will benefit PTI this is shameful.
@ Blithe: So if legally there is no proof, why doesnt he sue yunus habib for tarnishing his image?? DO you think the supreme court established that money was indeed given on no proof at all? asad durrani's affidavit is the proof on which this whole judgement is given out and clearly nawaz sharif's name is there. Yunus habib's affidavit is also present with the court and nawaz sharif's name is there as well. If this was not proof why did the supreme court give out this ruling?????
This supreme court has started to look more like the supreme court of Zulifkar Butto era who was hanged on the statement of a criminal in that case.
Not only Nawaz Sharif but also Khaleda Zia of Bangladesh was given money in 1990s!
This entire case is based on verbal statements of some people not a single concrete evidence of tape recordings or photographs people taking money has been submitted if it was ISI you will think they will keep such things. The Supreme Court is tarnishing it own image because such ruling will favor one particular party and that is PTI.
liar liar pants on fire
@ AS: Looks like history is repeating itself on your party. Our leader has admitted to supporting musharraf and apologized, does ur SHER leader has it to apologize for taking money, for being the front man of general gillani, gul, aslam beg zia and who knows else!! Does he apologize for storming the supreme court, and MOST importantly does he apologize for supporting zardari for the past 5 years. Nope he doesnt, because they say " Once a Noora, always a NOORA!!!
Such a disgrace! We will never accept that we have done wrong!
Did he really say that? :) with which face?
@Blithe: If there is no proof why doesnt nawaz sue yunus habib? Why dont they gracefully accept decision and announce to SUPPORT the investigation. Why all the crying if there is no proof? Do u think the supreme court just said that money was handed over by isi to thin air? My above question remains unanswered, why did he grant mehran bank to yunus habib if this wasnt the case? why did the same mehran bank offer ittefaq industries loans? What about statement of hamid gul, khalid khawaja and asad durrani. what about the fact that nawaz became pm after 1990 elections? Do u need more proofs???
Contempt of court
shameful however real.
Interestingly, the whole issue is now being trivialized to mere money related corruption. Although distribution of money is a component of this case and should be investigated and people found guilty in the process must be punished. however, the issue is beyond money the issue is the prevailing mindset of our state institution, who feel they are above and have the right to steal peoples mandate, total disregard to constitutional norms, and have the moral authority to pick and chose people of there choice to rule us. The Asghar Khan is just the tip of the iceberg, we have seen time and again that the Military elite has done everything in there power to keep the people's aspirations in check and define the entire national narrative of there choice and in the process they have done everything including hanging of an elected prime minister, propping up of new political actors, disfranchising the people of Pakistan of there right to chose, declaring people security risk, propping up and supporting militant outfits, suppressing the democratic movement, losing a portion of our country etc with full immunity. The unfortunate part of it all is they had support from the judiciary, so called civil society, journalist, politics and public at large (due to peoples indifference). The saddest part is we see them reinventing them each time as the Savers, even today the conspirators of the past and the present have now taken to airwaves as the champions of Pakistani cause.
@@ishiPTI: Typical PTI troll comment . There is no proof whatsoever on NS, unlike Javed Hashmi.
Why don't you trolls start with Javed Hashmi first?
Where are you Javeed Hashmi (President PTI)..? no one ask him...
Here Mr. NS wants to say that he is Saint Of Politics. For God's sake Sir, at least now speak truth and accept your Sin. Money was distributed and you were the main pick of the establishment.
Oh God Save Us From These Kind of Politicians....
Nawaz Sharif might be technically correct in stating that he never took any money in person from ISI but in case his secretary or any other party member took money on his behalf he is neither responsible nor guilty for the same because he was kept in the dark by them. However in Pakistan, issue of denial on any accusation big or small is a state policy and NS being a part of the system as a former PM is entitled to take refuge under this policy and be absolved of all acts of omission and commissions.
Yes..... yunus habib had a criminal past that is why you authorized him to make mehran bank and offer your ittefaq industries millions of loans that were never paid back. Why dont u sue him is he is a liar??? O wait....... u are lying. What goes around comes around nawaz sharif, u finished of your politics when u allowed zardari to become president and had noora kushti with him all these years. Its over man.
come on - be a man - for once...dont lie!!!!
Every body is afraid of NS.Why because this man is a nightmare for looters. He is a man who can bring this country of this mess.
Just accept it, Nawaz, and apologize to nation.
Former Mehran Bank owner Yunus Habib has said that Main Nawaz Sharif has taken money from ISI but he has denied the allegation.
Supreme Court should summon Yunus Habib and former ISI chief and ask them to file an affidavit so that either the allegations should be proved correct or incorrect.
He is right. He didnot take money from ISI, but from Younis Habib through Asad Durrani. It is not onlt that he took money. He gave it also through Rafiq Tarar to Judges of Supreme Court in Quetta in Justice Sajjad Ali Shah Case.
