Musharraf, who ruled Pakistan between 1999 and 2008, had formed a party called the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) and had vowed to end his self-exile to contest the elections in the country. However, with only months to go to the general elections, he is yet return to the country on account of security concerns.
The former president was also declared a proclaimed offender by a trial court hearing the Benazir Bhutto assassination case and a red warrant has also been issued to Interpol for his arrest.

@Hasnain Ali: Does any body have an idea how our judiciary works. Surely the "liars" must be knowing this but will have no movement to cleanse the judiciary of corruption and stagnation. Easiest of the cases take forever to be decided. Where are judicial reforms? Independent judiciary? What rubbish. Vengeful judiciary, Yes. And supporting vendetta politics of Nawaz Sharif.

We welcome Musharaf not only for Chitral but for the entire Pakistan. We need strong and brave leadership like Musharaf. One can easily recall his last official address when he said "Pakistan ka khuda Hafiz". He knew that leaders like Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, Altaf Hussain, Asfandiyar Wali and some others cannot deliver therefore he openly expressed that Pakistan will become a corrupt country in the presence of these leaders. We have tested all these so called leaders and all Pakistanis know who can deliver and who cannot. But I feel very sad when some Pakistani friends ignore his services for the country and compare him with bungler leadership. The entire country love him as we can see the comments above except few friends majority has expressed their love for him. Musharaf God bless you! we are proud of you as you are the only leader who built Pakistan image across the globe but we feel shame when someone talks about the records of other leaders.

Musharraf must not attempt to contest elections from Chitral otherwise he will become controversial and loose his respect and likely loose the elections too. If he is banking on his money, others who are inviting him are also banking on his money. He should be wise now at least after ruling Pakistan for nine years.

Pervez 'Pakistan first' Musharraf is too preoccupied to save his own skin to save Pakistan, God forbid. With saviours like him who needs enemies. Oh wait, is this the guy who over a few drinks in a foreign land said "Pakistani women get deliberately raped, so that they can get a foreign visa", when asked about Mukhtar Mai. This so called commando comes across like an educated and sincere man to some deluded people. Nothing of the sort, he is a clown through and through, and the quicker he disappears from the scene, the better. He can enjoy his grandeur lifestyle hopefully far away from Pakistan, after all he has got loads of his loot to last him and quite a few of his future generations.

nonsense...president musharraf gave 1 date, which was march 23rd of this year. he moved up prematurely to end of january but then on the advice of his friend DG ISI and his party decided it was not the right time due to memogate erupting. the PPP would try to divert attention from itself and initiate all sorts of fake cases against him, humiliate him to save themselves. he wisely chose not to come. the PPP suffered more. he doesnt have to prove his bravado to you or anyone. his military record speaks for himself. the man has two gallantry awards. you dont receive those inside a cereal box. you earn them.

i happen to live in the country, so i interact with and see what people are saying. president musharraf is not here, but there is a large swath of the country that still remembers him fondly. yes, he committed mistakes. but with the coming of the PPPs disastrous 5 years, its human nature to think of how things were in the past and be nostalgic about it. and that is exactly what happened. as hasan nisar, noted columnist stated in the aftermath of musharrafs resignation, 'musharraf yaad ayega.' people are remembering him. wait for him to come back. these former cricketer playboys turned taliban apologists are being revealed for who they are. the country needs a strong leader who can deliver. none of the candidates has a resume even close to president musharrafs. all they can claim is that we can do it. musharraf can say, 'i have done it!'

Guys i have visited Chitral number of times in recent past. Chitralis Love him for his work for uplifting the communities in Chitral.... instead of oozing out hatred against him, just try to be realistic... At the moment, Chitral is the most neglected part of NWFP and Pakistan...

Sir we welcome you back in Pakistan .. the situation was not as bad as today during Musharraf era.
He has been giving different dates for coming to Pakistan. But the "commando" has been too scared and dares not come back, at least till the time we have independent judiciary.
The country needs a leader like him. Someone who is assertive, educated and sincere. Unfortunately, we have reached to a level that even if Allah send us angels as leaders, we would still call them "America ke ghulaam".
