FO dispels notion that Malala attack being used to justify N Waziristan operation

Foreign Office spokesperson hints that NWA operation may be discussed with Grossman.

ISLAMABAD:
The Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson said on Thursday that it was unfortunate that the attack on Malala Yousafzai was being used to justify the launch of a military operation in North Waziristan.

During a weekly briefing, FO spokesperson Moazzam Ali Khan condemned the attack on the 14-year-old child rights activist and said that it could not be justified in any manner.

When asked whether Pakistan would discuss the possible military operation in North Waziristan with US Special Envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman during his visit, the spokesperson did not rule out the notion. “All issues including the situation in Afghanistan will be discussed with him during his forthcoming visit to Pakistan.”

The spokesman said that the visit is part of ongoing engagements between Pakistan and the US and all the issues of mutual interest and mutual concern, including peace and security will be discussed with Grossman.
