SARGODHA: Theft of motors and transformers of agricultural tubewells is on the rise in Sahiwal. Rai Mohammed Farooq, a resident of Azmatwala, said it seemed that a gang specializing in the equipment was involved. He said that the gang had stolen the tube-well motor of his farmhouse in September. Another farmer, Sher Ali Dhuddi, said the gang stole motors at night. He said on some occasions when they met resistance, they had fired shots in the air to deter citizens. Malik Islam, a resident of Wijhoka village, said the transformer of his tubewell had been stolen and there was no clue to the culprits.  They said the district police officer (DPO) should take appropriate measures to stop the thefts.
