Demanding new laws: SPARC campaigns to stop child labour
Representatives from the private sector, government and media met from October 11 to 13 to discuss the issue.
KARACHI:
The Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) has started a provincial campaign to end child labour. Representatives from the private sector, government and media met from October 11 to 13 to discuss the issue. They said that children took up work because of a lack of other opportunities. SPARC’s members said that a new survey was needed to get better estimates of the number of child labourers in the country and plan a more comprehensive strategy. They will also encourage politicians initiate policies on child labour laws.
