KARACHI: An official from Karachi Central Jail, Aurangzeb Kango, told The Express Tribune that 23 high-profile prisoners were transferred to a prison in Hyderabad on Sunday. The transfer had become necessary because terrorists had threatened to blow up the jail and rescue members of their group before Eidul Azha. The prisoners belong to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat. Karachi Central Jail transferred 55 prisoners to jails in Hyderabad and Sukkur in August and September after receiving similar threats.
