NAB chief’s appointment: Nisar urges SC to take up petition

Nisar pleaded court to hold hearing on October 17, said his counsel would appear on his behalf.

ISLAMABAD:

Opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday urged the Supreme Court to promptly hear his petition challenging the appointment of Admiral Fasih Bukhari as the chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

“The constitutional petition is pending before the apex court along with an application for grant of an interim injunction, which has not been fixed as yet,” Nisar maintained in a civil miscellaneous application.

He pleaded the court to hold the hearing on October 17 and said his counsel Muhammad Akram Sheikh would appear on his behalf.

“Only those should be put in office who enjoy impeccable reputation and who could uphold principles for fair, transparent, just, legal, equitable and Constitutional accountability of individuals and entities involved in corruption and corrupt practices,” read the application.

The federal government, cabinet division and Fasih Bukhari are cited as respondents in the case.
