Transparent elections not possible under Zardari: Munawar Hasan

JI chief says independent election commission necessary for holding free and fair elections.

MARDAN:
Addressing a rally in Mardan, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Munawar Hasan said that free, fair and transparent elections under President Asif Ali Zardari are not possible, Express News reported on Sunday.

The party chief pointed out that an independent election commission was necessary for holding free and fair elections.

Hasan also lashed out at the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for its alleged involvement in target killing incidents across Sindh.

Commenting on the anti-Islam film that led to violent protests across the globe, Hasan said that "no matter how much we condemn the blasphemous film – it is not enough.”

He further said that the “West is actively plotting against Islam; there will be an Islamic revolution soon in Pakistan.”

Criticising Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Hasan said Pakistan doesn't need his Islamic revolution.

Other who addressed the rally included JI’s office bearers.
