Following the escape of a prisoner from police custody, Abbottabad District Police Officer (DPO) Karim Shah suspended six police personnel including an assistant sub inspector (ASI) for misconduct, police sources said on Thursday.
The DPO ordered an inquiry into the case and suspended ASI Haroon Khan and five constables, who were accompanying the prisoner at the time of the escape, till the completion of the inquiry.
Noorzada, a resident of Mardan, jumped out of a moving vehicle while he was being taken to Abbottabad District Courts from Mansehra District Jail on Wednesday. He jumped out of the police van near Neelay Per village and disappeared in the nearby forest. The prisoner was being tried on charges of robberies, waylaying and kidnapping for ransom.
