Vacant Posts: Induction of judges in AJK HC demanded

AJK Supreme Court had directed the government to fill vacant posts within three months but government failed to comply

MIRPUR:

The Mirpur District Bar Association (MDBA) on Thursday reiterated its demand of filling of vacant posts in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) High Court.

In a meeting of the bar association on Thursday, MDBA President Arshad Mahmood Mallick said that the four vacant posts in the High Court must be filled without further lost of time following the procedure of appointment of judges laid down in the AJK Interim Constitution Act 1974.

He underscored that three months back, the AJK Supreme Court had directed the government to fill the vacant posts within three months but the government has failed to comply with the order.

“Ignoring these orders is tantamount to contempt of the apex court,” he said. He urged the government to fill the posts within three more months.
