Acid attack case: Man gets death on two counts

A man was convicted in an acid attack case and sentenced to death  on two counts by an anti-terrorism court on Tuesday. Sabtain Nazeer, a resident of Chak No411-GB, was arrested by Sadar Tandlianwala police for burning his wife and mother-in-law on July 2, 2012.

His mother-in-law, Sarwar Bibi, had succumbed to her injuries while his wife, Shabana Bibi, is still under treatment at Allied Hospital. Judge Ishtiaq Ahmad sentenced Nazeer to death under Section 302-B of the PPC) and Section 7 of the ATA and to 14 years rigorous imprisonment under section 336-B of the PPC. The court also imposed Rs200,000 and Rs1 million fines on the convict.
