KARACHI:

Friday allowed relatively unknown actors to emerge on to Karachi’s streets. Members of a group called Al Jihad, holding green-and-white striped flags, chanted, “Ya Rasool, Ya Rasool (PBUH).

Insults to you will not be tolderated” at the Karachi Press Club. One of their activists, Khalid, said they had come from Keamari. Another group by the name of Jamaat Ahle Sunnat (not to be confused with Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat) emerged near Fawara Chowk to lash out against the American government. Their activists stormed the roundabout screaming, “Down with Americans, down with Obama.” Students from an Anjuman-e-Talba Islam demanded death for the filmmaker. Near Mereweather Tower, members of a Dawat Ahle Sunnat, with their faces half covered, protested from a rally of motorcycles.
