NAB, FBR given time to probe missing ISAF containers

CJ rejects reports by NAB, FBR, says national treasury had suffered a huge loss through the scam.

ISLAMABAD:

The Supreme Court on Monday gave more time to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to submit a detailed report on missing containers belonging to the International Security Assistance Force (Isaf).

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, resumed hearing the case.

Rejecting reports by both NAB and FBR, the chief justice said that even though the national treasury had suffered a huge loss through the scam, Finance Secretary Abdul Wajid and other authorities concerned were not taking sufficient measures to probe the case.

Both the bureau and board promised to submit detailed reports on a day-to-day basis till the next hearing. The case was adjourned until September 24.
