Midas issue: Punjab govt advises legal route

Reacting to an All Pakistan Newspapers’ Society (APNS) press release, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed said that the Punjab government is trying to find a solution to the case regarding advertising company Midas by acting within the legal and constitutional limits. However, any efforts to influence the cases which are already in the Supreme Court will not be suitable and they need to be left to the discretion of the court, Rasheed said. The press release said that though the case is before the court, the Punjab government is ready to talk to the APNS. The APNS has strongly condemned the assertion of some anchors from the electronic media that the APNS was a beneficiary of the interior ministry’s secret funds. The committee stated that the grant of Rs50 million for APNS was a special budgetary grant by the prime minister.
