Scrabble: Waseem wins ranking event

Waseem Khatri marked his scrabble comeback by winning the 11th National Ranking Tournament in style.

KARACHI: Waseem Khatri marked his scrabble comeback by winning the 11th National Ranking Tournament in style. Waseem was in top form as he clinched all his nine matches with huge margins. The other stand-out performer of the event was Yasir Jamshed, who finished in second place with seven wins and a spread of 646. However, the highlight of the event came when 15-year-old Muhammad Inshal surprised everyone to finish third. The teenager claimed seven impressive wins to finish with a spread of 638. Meanwhile, Shahzaib Khatri and Javeria Mirza qualified for the World Youth Scrabble Championship by virtue of staying at the top in the country’s rankings. The remaining six players for the youth event will be selected after the qualifying rounds that are scheduled to be start from September 21.
