PESHAWAR:

Militants blew up a government primary school in Mera Mashokhel area on Tuesday night, destroying two rooms of the building.

Police told The Express Tribune that militants had planted five bombs, each weighing five kilogrammes, inside the rooms and in the hall, out of which four exploded. One device failed to blow up which was later defused by the bomb disposal unit.

“Two rooms in the school were completely destroyed in the blast making the building unsuitable for use,” said local Faiz Muhammad, adding that nearly all the schools in the area had been blown up by militants.

More than 3,000 schools have been damaged since militancy hit the region. In Mohmand Agency, 103 government schools have been destroyed including one girls primary school that was demolished by militants late Monday night.
