Fata Playgrounds: Locals protest military occupation

MIRAMSHAH: Dozens of people in North Waziristan Agency protested against the occupation of sports grounds in Miramshah.

In Wednesday’s demonstration, locals said they had built three grounds by raising funds from all over the agency on Miramshah-Ghulam Khan Road to play volleyball, cricket and football, which have been closed down due to security reasons.

Protestors said that they were not only stopped from playing on the grounds, but also from using a sports complex in Miramshah and the Civil Colony Stadium claiming that they were not allowed to pass through the checkpoints in the locality.

The three-kilometre area north of Miramshah towards Darga Mandi had to be cornered off because of the volatile security situation.
