Flash floods: 60-year-old woman swept away

DERA ISMAIL KHAN/ MIRANSHAH: A 60-year-old woman was swept away by floodwaters in Mir Ali, sub-division of North Waziristan, an official of the political administration told The Express Tribune.

Water overflowing from the River Ketho also caused damage to fertile lands in some areas of Mir Ali.

Torrential rainfall, up to 16 millimetres, was recorded in DI Khan on Sunday, Aurangzeb Khan, an official at the Met Office told The Express Tribune.

A new spell of rainfall, which started around 4:30am on Sunday, continued during the day in both the city and surrounding areas. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.

However, water from Tank Zam flooded the northern side of Union Council Warsphon of Tank, damaging tomato and maize crops.

Road linking Tank with northwestern areas of Kari Hidar, Shah Alam, Dawood Khel and the Pir Tangi remained blocked due to the flooding.
