The demand was put forward during talks between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the PML-N to deliberate over the National Accountability Commission Bill, formation of new provinces and to allay concerns regarding the parliamentary commission.
Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has made it clear to the incumbent government that talks will not reach the federal level until candidates are finalised at the provincial level.
Federal Minister Khursheed Shah led the talks from the PPP’s side, while Senator Ishaq Dar represented the PML-N in the meeting, which was also attended by Defence Minister Naveed Qamar and PML-N leader Khwaja Asif.
The talks were earlier scheduled twice, but were deferred due to Shah’s engagements.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Shah said that the agenda of today’s meeting was to convince PML-N on the accountability bill.
The PML-N maintained that a national commission should be formed for the formation of provinces and that Punjab’s representation should be raised.
Both parties discussed about caretaker set-up in the meeting, too.
