LAHORE:

An election tribunal dismissed a petition challenging the victory of Federal Minister for Information Ataullah Tarar from NA-127 in the February 8, 2024 general elections.

The petition, filed by Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar—who contested against Tarar as an independent candidate backed by Imran Khan's PTI—sought to overturn the election result, citing massive rigging.

In its ruling, the tribunal noted that the petitioner repeatedly sought adjournments and failed to present evidence supporting claims that the election was rigged, undermining the proceedings.

The tribunal dismissed the petition, declaring it false, non-maintainable, and without merit as it upheld Tarar's electoral success in the constituency.

Barrister Haris Azmat appeared on behalf of the federal minister.
