Anti dengue day observed across Punjab

Government has trained medical experts in Thailand and Sri lanka, says Shahbaz Sharif.

Anti dengue day was observed in the entire Punjab, including Lahore on Sunday to enhance public awareness about the virus.  Workshops, seminars and walks were organized throughout the province. Government offices and educational institutions remained open as per the decision of the Punjab government.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif expected active cooperation from the public to eliminate the virus. He said that effective steps will be taken by the government and protection of human rights will be ensured. He added that the government will utilize all its resources to fight against the fatal disease.


The chief minister said that the government had trained medical experts in Thailand and Sri lanka, who are now working as lead trainers in the campaign.

Warning of strict action on any complaint of negligence or irresponsibility, he asked government officers to participate in the campaign against dengue to protect human lives.

Meanwhile, teachers and students boycotted an event organized on anti dengue day in Layya, after a municipal officer misbehaved with them. A student fainted in the commotion that ensued.
