Bilateral relations: Brazilian embassy hosts reception
The reception was attended by various ambassadors, said a statement issued by the Brazilian Embassy on Saturday. Brazil officially recognised Palestine as an independent state on December 1, 2010. The decision was made in accordance with Brazil’s willingness to contribute to the peace process between Israel and Palestine, and is coherent with UN resolutions which have demanded an end to the occupation of Palestinian territories, said the statement.
Brazil firmly supports the ongoing Palestinian application for full membership at the United Nations and other international organisations. At a bilateral level, Brazilian-Palestinian relations are stronger than ever before, it added.
