Intelligence officials say Badruddin Haqqani killed in drone strike: Report

Taliban had denied the reports of Haqqani being killed, calling it propaganda.

ISLAMABAD:
Reports of Haqqani network founder’s son Badruddin Haqqani being killed in a US drone strike near the Afghan border were confirmed by unnamed Pakistani intelligence officials, reported Associated Press.

According to officials, he was killed last week in one of three strikes in Shawal district of North Waziristan, but they did not specify which of the strikes killed him.

Badruddin was said to be the operational commander of the al Qaeda-linked Haqqani network responsible for attacks on Kabul.

Earlier, Afghanistan’s spy agency had said that Badruddin had been killed but it has been denied by the Taliban, to which the network is allied.
