Careless Driving: Eight die, 75 injured in bus-collision

Three passenger buses collided on the Indus Highway near Kala Colony, some 20 kilometres away from DG Khan.

At least eight people died and 75 others were injured on Tuesday night after three passenger buses collided on the Indus Highway near Kala Colony, some 20 kilometres away from DG Khan.



Kala SHO Muhammad Riaz said that two buses, coming from Swabi and Swat, were headed to Karachi when, in an attempt to overtake, one of them accelerated and ran into a bus headed in the opposite direction. Both the buses overturned and hit the third bus.

Eight people died on the spot and 75 others were injured. Rescue 1122 teams were called and the injured people were taken to various hospitals, including district headquarters hospital and Nishtar Hospital, Multan.

Five of the deceased were identified as Sadiq the driver, Saddam Hussain from Peshawar, Saima, Muhammad Sajid and Sadiq from Swat. The rest of the three have yet to be identified.
