Two killed in bomb attack on train

No group has so far claimed responsibility.

Two people were killed and eight others injured when a bomb exploded on railway tracks near Odhano village, some five kilometres away from the Thull railway station.


The blast, which caused seven coaches of the Peshawar-bound Khushhal Khan Khatak Express to derail, occurred early Wednesday.

No group has so far claimed responsibility.

According to reports, the explosion was so powerful that it could be heard far away in Thull Town and nearby areas. Two men, identified as Tahir Usman and Yasir Nawaz, were killed on the spot. Eight people were injured, including one Hanif Rajput, who lost his leg and was referred to the Jacobabad hospital.

A heavy contingent of the police and Rangers rushed to the site and cordoned off the entire area. Sub Inspector Irshad Ahmed Soomro told The Express Tribune told that eight to 10 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the blast.
