Free to go: Court acquits man accused of firing
Man was booked in a case of firing at police.
KARACHI:
A man booked in a case of firing at police has been acquitted by a district and sessions court. The 1st additional district and sessions judge, Iqbal Ahmed Khawaja, absolved 20-year-old Khawaja Rehmatal Khan of charges on Tuesday. The judge ordered the police superintendant to release him if he was not wanted in any other case. The suspect and his accomplice, Rasool Bux, were accused of firing at a Sohrab Goth police near Nadir Hospital on June 6, 2010. The police had claimed that the men were signalled to stop their motorcycle, but they opened fire in a bid to escape. The police arrested the men and also seized the weapons from them. A case (457/10) under Sections 353, 324 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code was registered against them at the Sohrab Goth police station.
