Karachi violence: Ranger, MQM, PPP workers killed

Police officials say scores of people set motorcycle, four roadside stalls on fire in protest against killing.

KARACHI: Two political workers and a Rangers official were among five people gunned down on Wednesday night in Karachi in separate incidents. Police officials said that scores of people set a motorcycle and four roadside stalls on fire in protest against the killing of a shopkeeper, belonging to the Christian community, during a robbery attempt. A worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was gunned down in Delhi Colony. The MQM worker was killed by a member of a rival group over a personal dispute. A supporter of the Pakistan Peoples Party was gunned down in Qasba Colony. An official of the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh was shot dead within the limits of the Airport police station. Two armed men riding a motorcycle were behind the incident according to initial investigations. Another man who had no affiliation with any party was sitting outside his home when armed motorcyclists shot and killed him over personal enmity.
