KARACHI: Security has been put on high alert at the Jinnah International Airport.

The decision to enhance security was taken following threats of a possible terrorist attack.

Airport security force and snipers were deployed at the airport to avoid any untoward incident and a contingent of police and Rangers were also deployed along the routes leading to the airport including Pehlwan Goth, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Shah Faisal Colony. The airport manager, Nasir Sheikh, told The Express Tribune, that security was put on high alert for an indefinite period. He added that it had been reported that some incident might take place but did not know whether it would be a hijacking or an attack at the airport.
