Road rage: Street racing claims life

RAWAT: A man was shot dead over a petty dispute in Rawat on Tuesday. Police sources said that three motorists allegedly shot dead a truck driver, Miraj Khalid, over some issue that arose due to the latter’s driving.

Khalid was bringing edible items from Lahore and got engaged in a race with a car. Khalid’s helper, Ahmed Zaib said, “First the car overtook the truck before reaching Rawat, but shortly Khalid succeeded in crossing the car.

As a result a race started.” When they entered Islamabad from Rawat Toll Plaza, the car driver signalled the victim to stop, but Khalid ignored. The car chased the truck down at Kak Bridge after which three persons came out of the vehicle and overpowered the helper. They fired two bullets at Khalid killing him on the spot and fled from the scene, said Zaib.

Shortly after getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot and shifted the body to Pims. The police registered a case and further investigation is underway.
