PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) removed direct connections and disconnected defaulted public consumers of power supply on Monday. Illegal connections are being checked to help steer the company out of a Rs4 billion a month loss due to the power theft and unpaid dues by consumers. The teams found 10 direct connections in Pabbi and adjacent villages which they disconnected. FIRs were lodged against the persons involved in power pilferage, Pesco spokesperson Shaukat Afzal said. Similarly, the power loss detection teams also disconnected 15 connections in the area of defaulters and recovered Rs250,000 from power consumers with pending dues against them.
