Free to go: Kidnappers release dentist and son with bus fare

It is unclear on what terms the kidnappers released the two hostages.

A dentist and his son who were kidnapped last month in Bhitshah were released by the kidnappers on Friday.


Dr Rafique Memon, dentist at the police hospital, and his son, Dr Shafique Memon, a student at Isra medical university, were left on a link road near Sekhat area in Matiari district - 30 kilometers away from Hyderabad.

They had been kidnapped 19 days ago in Bhitshah. Their abandoned car was found from the limits of Hatri police station in Hyderabad. The FIR for their kidnapping was registered in Bhitshah at the request of a relative, Mazoor Soomro.

It is unclear on what terms the kidnappers released the two hostages. Bhitshah SHO Mazhar Mehdi confirmed that the police did not help in releasing the men. According to the family, the kidnappers put a thousand rupees in the men’s pockets before releasing them.
