Combating Dengue: MPAs to work with EPD

Wahlah informed the participants that four EPD dengue squads have been working in the city for the past few months

LAHORE: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique said that provincial assembly members will work in coordination with the Environment Protection Department (EPD) to eliminate dengue breeding sites in the city. He was chairing a meeting at the EPD head office on Thursday in which Environment Secretary Saeed Wahla, DG Maqsood Ahmed Lakh, MPA Khawaja Imran Nazir, MPA Chaudhry Shahbaz and EIA Director Naseemur Rehman Shah were also present. Wahlah informed the participants that four EPD dengue squads have been working in the city for the past few months which will soon be increased to eight. He said the department was facing a lack of funds due to which fuel could not be provided to the squads. He said he would conduct inspections in the city and the EPD would try to eliminate all dengue breeding sites in the city. Rafique asked both MPAs to work in collaboration with the EPD as per the direction of the chief minister.
