Fire: 30 shops gutted in Chilas town

GILGIT: More than 30 shops were gutted in a fire that engulfed an entire market of Chilas town during the early hours of Thursday. “The fire has reduced to ashes merchandise worth millions of rupees,” Zahir, a policeman in Chilas control room told The Express Tribune over the phone. According to locals, the fire broke out in a timber store located adjacent to the market and spread quickly. As the news broke out, police, fire brigade and local volunteers rushed to the site to extinguish it due to shortage of equipment.
