Former World Superbike champion Ben Spies revealed that he will leave the Yamaha MotoGP team at the end of this season, according to the BBC. “I have chosen to leave Yamaha after this season for a litany of reasons,” said the biker on his Twitter account. “I will explain more when it is appropriate.” Spies has had a tough season and currently sits in 10th position in the standings. He has experienced contrasting fortunes to team-mate Jorge Lorenzo with no podium finish this season. “I won’t make any further comments until the official announcement comes out. I’m extremely happy to push for the rest of the season. To my fans, and myself, next year starts a new chapter. And yes I’m pumped.”
