1,000 policemen for Faisalabad mosques

Security arranged for Ramazan Bazaars, railway stations, bus stands.

As many as 1,000 policemen will perform security duties at sensitive sites during the Ramazan, Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Chaudhry Sadiq Dogar said on Friday.


He said close circuit television (CCTV) cameras had been installed at the entrance of mosques and at other public places on directions of City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana.

The SSP said policemen would guard 494 mosques during taraweeh prayers.

Police would be deployed at 32 mosques in Civil Lines Circle, 33 in Kotwali and Jhang Circles, 49 in Gulberg Circle, 45 in Batala Colony Circle, 42 in Factory Area Circle, 42 in Sargodha Circle, 39 in Saddar Circle, 62 in Tandlianwala Circle, 41 in Chak Jhumra Circle, 56 in Jaranwala Circle and 26 in Khurarianwala Circle.

The SSP said volunteers would perform security duties at other mosques where taraweeh prayers would be arranged. He said the selection of these volunteers would be undertaken by jointly by the station house officers (SHOs) concerned and mosque committees. The SSP said teams of the Elite Force would patrol the city between the iftar and the taraweeh prayers.

Security arrangements have also been made for important business centres, Ramazan Bazaars, railway stations and bus stands in the city.
