The Lahore Waste Management Company has finalised a cleaning plan for the 25 Model Ramazan Bazaars to be set up in the city, said a press release.
More than 100 workers will be deputed in two shifts – 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10am.
The company will provide 100 skips and another 60 wheeled bins for the bazaars. Customised waste bags will be provided to vendors in all bazaars and then collected daily after they are filled.
There are 1,188 shops in the 25 model bazaars and they are expected to generate 10 tons a day each, or a total of 11,880 tons per day. Awareness camps will be set up in these bazaars to inform vendors and buyers of the importance of cleanliness.
Social mobilisers and LWMC staff at the camps will distribute waste disposal bags and awareness material.
The LWMC has also finalised a strategy to keep mosques and public ‘dastarkhawans’ clean.
