NH&MP installs new speed-checking gadgets

The DIG directed all field-patrolling officers to check the over speeding vehicles at the time of Iftar and Sehar.

LAHORE: New speed-checking instruments have been installed at the National Highways and Motorways to keep a check on over speeding vehicles. This was stated by DIG Syed Ibne Hussain during a meeting held to review the soft policing and special security arrangements for the holy month of Ramazan.

The DIG directed all field-patrolling officers to check the over speeding vehicles especially at the time of Iftar and Sehar since the drivers exceeded their speed in order to reach in time. He said that over speeding was a major cause of accidents on the highways and motorways. He asked the patrolling officers to ensure smooth flow of the traffic. Hussain also asked them to work for uninterrupted, safe and clear passage for the traffic, ensure safe journey and provide timely help. He stressed on the fact that they needed to eliminate crimes from the highways by utilising all available resources.

The Chief Patrolling Officers (beat commanders) were also directed to personally monitor the installments of relief camps. He urged the general public to deposit donations and other such goods in the relief collection camps at beat levels. He also said that donators could also deposit items in any patrol car on the motorway or highway and get a receipt. Special arrangements for free Iftar for the commuters have also been arranged by the National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP).
