FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) has attained top position in the Combined Efficiency Index (CEI) of power companies because of minimum losses and best bill recovery in financial year 2011-12, claims board of directors Chairman Nadeem Aftab Sindhu.

Briefing a delegation of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) here on Thursday, he said the board was engaged in long and short-term strategic planning to further improve the company’s performance.

“The board comprising leading businessmen and intellectuals was regularly monitoring the overall performance of Fesco. It also regularly holds meetings.”

Quoting the Combined Efficiency Index, he said Fesco’s losses stood at 10.1% while its recovery was the highest at 98.6%. Thus, its score in the index was 88.6%.

Fesco Chief Executive Officer Iftikhar Ahmed, in his presentation, expressed the hope that the company would get a maximum share in assistance under the USAID power distribution programme because of its better performance among electricity distribution companies.

He said Fesco had reduced its average collection period from 28 days to 25 days. Similarly, a five-year business plan has also been executed.

In addition to these, the company is preparing a monthly management account to evaluate the performance of each division and sub-division.
