Fearing a beating: Domestic helper, 9, jumps off roof

Jumped on account of being repeatedly physically abused by owner.

GUJRANWALA: A child working as domestic help jumped off a roof on Tuesday. Police said that Aamir, 9, a resident of Haveli Lakha, had been working at the house of a trader, Usman, for two years. Usman had sent Aamir to buy some medicine. When he arrived ten minutes later, Usman gave him a beating. Aamir jumped off the roof on hearing the threat. He broke his leg and fainted. He was taken to Civil Hospital. The medical report confirmed that he had been beaten.
