PEMRA bars local media from promoting 'Ek Tha Tiger'
Says bollywood film aims at "tarnishing image of ISI".

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority issued a statement on Monday, directing all local satellite TV channels and distribution networks to refrain from promoting Bollywood’s upcoming Salman Khan starrer 'Ek Tha Tiger', citing that the movie aims to tarnish the image of Inter-services Intelligence (ISI), the country's premiere spy agency.
The statement issued by the Sindh chapter of PEMRA on July 6 read that the film, due to be released on August 15, depicted the activities of intelligence agencies of India and Pakistan, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and ISI respectively and that the film’s ‘objective was to tarnish the image of the state owned institution.
PEMRA has directed entertainment companies to refrain from promoting the movie until such a time that a No Objection Certificate (NOC) is issued by the Central Board of Film Censors.
'Ek Tha Tiger' is a Yash Raj Films production, starring superstars Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The film has been directed by Kabir Khan of 'Kabul Express' and 'New York' fame.
Indian releases have proved to be a boon for local cinema houses which had struggled to bring in revenues by showing primarily local films.
