Marussia confirmed he had been transferred to hospital after her car collided with a support vehicle during a test lap

Spanish Formula One driver Maria De Villota was fighting for her life yesterday after suffering serious injuries during a crash in testing for the Marussia team, it was confirmed. Marussia confirmed in a statement that the 32-year-old test driver from Madrid had been transferred to hospital after her car collided with a support vehicle during a test lap. “Marussia F1 Team’s Test Driver Maria De Villota had an accident in the team’s race car and has been transferred to hospital,” said Marussia. “We are awaiting further news.” A number of other drivers offered messages of support and sympathy. “Terrible accident for Maria. My thoughts are with her and her family at this very difficult time,” said Jenson Button.
