Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairperson Imran Khan squarely blamed the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Monday for ‘hatching conspiracies’ against the Supreme Court (SC).
The PTI chief said the government was the ‘mastermind’ behind recent ‘attacks’ on the Supreme Court, taking revenge because the court was pursuing high-profile cases against its top leadership.
Imran also declared that real estate magnate Riaz Malik was not only a business partner but a front man for President Asif Ali Zardari in this ‘race’.
Referring to corruption, Imran said that top political parties PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have failed to draft any accountability laws to cope with the chronic problem which has destroyed the country’s economy.
“Both deliberately pushed the proposed bill (Accountability Bill, 2008) into a blind alley to cover their top leadership’s corruption,” Imran Khan said.
The PTI chairperson urged the chief justice to take up pending cases of corruption against political leaders. He also demanded the immediate resignation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairperson over his alleged statement that he would not open pending cases against the PML-N. He urged the SC to take suo motu notice over his refusal. NAB chief Admiral (retd) Fasih Bokhari had stated on Saturday that since elections are around the corner, political cases will not be reopened against anyone.
Imran said that NAB is an independent institution and the chairperson has no power to pick and choose cases on the basis of personal liking and disliking or under the instructions of his political bosses.
He also demanded that Bokhari clarify the nature and level of his relations with Riaz and called upon Riaz to announce in public, under an oath, the names of any of his beneficiaries from the ranks of the civil, military and political elite.
Continuing to lash out at the PML-N, Imran waved a clipping from a national English daily with the headline ‘The lion that fed on public’s money’, alleging that former premier Nawaz Sharif made illegal financial gains during his tenures.
He challenged Nawaz to sue the publisher to prove otherwise. He also criticised the Punjab government for what he said was a mishandling of the doctors’ strike, the dengue epidemic and substandard medicines. Earlier, former PML-N provincial minister from Multan Saeed Ahmed Qureshi announced that he was joining PTI.

I have never seen the majority in Pakistan in a balanced state of mind. They keep swinging fast from adulation to hatred.
well ppp is elected gov, let them complete there time and then, let the people decide who to vote for. Political parties should respect civilian governments no matter how corrupt they are. SC is acting like mother in law for ppp government, well there are many cases pending in the courts waiting for decision but our beloved CJ is more concerned about political issues rather than justice, SC is there to provide justice not to indulge in any political scenario. this situation is favourable for army to take over but army is not so famous now for there role in the current scenario. so dont let another dictator rule you be a part of the solution rather than creating problems.
@Tahir Alyana: You sure he is those 'footsteps" ? I hope then he goes the same and fast.
@Shaheer Malik:
What about? If a father is responsible for his son’s doing than why not apply the same rule on Iftikhar Chaudhary in case of Arsalan?
@Mianwaliwala: That sounds really bitter. Who heckles at an honest person?
@CVT: Well he's been trying to get the accountability bill passed, and he's pushing for corruption cases to be opened.
PTI! PTI Revolution!
Unstoppable
Imran said, "NAB is an independent institution and the chairperson has no power to pick and choose cases on the basis of personal liking and disliking or under the instructions of his political bosses." ----- does Imran know what he is talking about, can some one explain to him meaning of "INDEPENDENT", sure some one from his English Medium Type supporters know this and can explain to their demigod.
People like IK play to gallary, incite public sentiments, harm & demean institutions of state and create confusion. I wonder how he would have reacted if he was PM. In any democracy the NA is supreme and not CJ. The CJ can be removed by NA and not vice-verse. Pakistan justice system is going berserk and it is sad that people are supporting this with total self interest and short term gain.
To all talking against Imran: Tell me what do the others have to offer or have offered, and they have had enuf chances. I dont have to tell you what IK has already offered to this nation, without being part of the government. People, the writing is on the wall, whether you like it or not.
Am done with supporting this guy! Enough with the blind support for chief justice!
IK raises the voice against NAB cases, against NRO cases, protests against load shedding, asks for early elections and openly condemned Malik Riaz. He does it day in day out yet some here question his intentions! What else can he do sitting outside insensitive assemblies? Come on people support him AT LEAST!
where is the Tsunami March? it was about to happen in May? Zardari is till President and Pakistan is still in horrible condition.........what is he waiting for?. IK cant handle PTI's internal matters how will he run country! hahhaha
11 generals are on Bahria Town’s executive committee. Why are you trying to fool?
Imran Khan is the only person who speaks openly against the Govt. Corruption. The real opposition of Govt.
It has become fashion to pin everything on conspiracies and the federal government, instead of looking objectively at an issue. Fact of the matter is that the genius cricketer-cum-politician fails to understand that the involvement of the Pakistani Charles Sobhraj (Mr. Arsalan Iftikhar) is airtight whether or not there was any conspiracy.
If the Judiciary thinks it can do a better job of ruling the nation, they should form the Supreme Court People's Party and compete in the next elections. (Of course, there is a danger that there may be the Pakistan Military Party and Pakistan Agency Party too.)
Pakistani people are corrupt and dishonest and they elect corrupt and dishonest politicians. I have no sympathy with the people. They deseerve everything they get.
@CVT: Who do you think filed the petition to disqualify Gilani first in the SC? Imran Khan! He doesn't just "talk"!
@Khalid Mahmood: Yeah, it's extremely rare to find a person like him who shaves.
Well Done Sir Imran Khan because you are the only hope of good people not the bad ones.
@Mianwaliwala: yes! he is so confused, making alliance with all time loser JI . . .!!!!!
@Ali:
Are you kidding me! Judiciary attacking the government?? And if that is the case then it should be done to ensure that Government runs the way it should.
@Umer: By attacks he meants the conspiracies being hatched against SC i.e. Arsalan Ifthikhar Case!
@Gul Muhammad: He copies Nawaz Sharif and watches Fox News when he's not On a news talk show. Lol.
well said and well done IK..........totally agreed and with you
@CVT: In this country all so called leaders are paper tigers tuned to remote control having joy stick some where else.
IK: playing multiple roles in the same over: batting, bowling, wicket keeping, and fielding. Like his role models in the SC. Amusing.
He's so confused. One moment he's fast-bowling then he starts spinning then he grabs the bat and starts batting all in the same over. Learning it fast from SC.
at least crying u ppl sit at home and olny critizes others!
I think the PML+PPP media teams are active commenting on this website. :-) Imran Khan for PM!!!!
Long live Imran Khan, they don't make them like him anymore.
This man's (IK) got a point!
@ahsan: Malik Riaz is any time better than those who have talked piety and plundered the country. He is better than those who has blackmailed in the good name of an institution. The man has delivered and all the residents of his townships are satisfied with his services.
Let the dust settle and years from now people will discuss how a self acclaimed independent court dismissed an elected PM unconstitutionally ! The courts are the most politically motivated ones. It is a shame how IK and NS are competing each other to prove their loyalties to the court. These were the same courts which allowed a military dictator to amend the constitution of his own free will and then allowed him to run for election of the President in Uniform ! What a shame !
What else Imran knows except blame politics. Shame.
It is noora kushti between PPP and PTI. Imran Khan's fans supported PPP candidates in all by-elections.
@Ali: The incessent corruption of the government
@Umer: And what about Malik Riaz Talk Show and Qadir Gilani phone?
Cry Baby Cry!
All parties in power wants to bring Supreme Court to the knees and thus finish last opposition from their way. They have weaken all institutions by either mismagement or maligning their reputation. Allah save Pakistan and general public from these hyenas.
Those who say that IK does not criticize PPP now open their eye and read this news.
And who is behind judicial attacks on govt?
What is he talking about? It’s the PM who has been sacked not Ifitkhar Chaudhary.
