Salman singing the same tune again

Former captain reiterates he had no role in spot-fixing saga.

When Salman Butt called for a press conference, he had all the answers prepared – he has been repeating them since the start.

The disgraced former captain, who returned to the country after serving a seven-month sentence for his part in a spot-fixing scandal during the England tour in August 2010, once again apologised to the nation for his failure to report the offers made by agent Mazhar Majeed, which he claimed were not heeded to.

While he refused to pinpoint any individual, saying that he did not have any proof against anyone, Butt added that he had no role in the spot-fixing saga.

“Majeed sent me numerous texts but I never responded,” Butt told reporters. “I want the chief justice of Pakistan to have a look into this. I had no part in the spot-fixing scandal and what Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif did was not in my knowledge. The money they found in my room was from inaugurating a shop on August 30, 2010 and they gave it back to me.”
