YouTube video of the day: A beggar's Facebook friend request

'An Unusual Friend Request' shows a beggar who has a different way to ask for alms - adding people on Facebook.

How many techniques can a beggar use to pester you for alms? They nudge you, yank your clothes, tap your car’s window constantly when you stop at a traffic signal, give you duas and, well…  badd duas, too. But a beggar named Baba Faqir has his own way – he will add you on Facebook if you refuse to fill his bowl with the tinkling sound of coins.

“An Unusual Friend Request”, directed and written by Jibran Khan, features a beggar who is seen sitting outside the office of a man. The beggar stops him and points his dirt-caked finger towards his bowl, asking for money.

The man ignores him and walks away. Later on at the office, he gets a friend request from the beggar he ignored. Initially astonished at the friend request, he accepts it.

The next day as the man walks past the beggar, he sits down and asks him about the friend request. The beggar again points towards the bowl, asking for money.

The man takes out money from his wallet and gives it to him, only to later find out that the beggar updates his Facebook status that states, “Had a good meal after a long time.”

The video ends with the man liking the status with a broad smile.

Video rating: Two thumbs up for the fun concept.
