Popular qawwal Tanveer Salamat and folk singers Sanam Marvi and Nadeem Abbas Lonay Wala kept a jam-packed audience entertained at a musical evening here on Monday, said a press release.

The event “Sufi Rang and Lok Ahang”, arranged at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), started with a popular qawali by Salamat, “Qismat Ka Sikandar Hoon, Muqadar Ka Ghani Hoon”.

His performance was followed by Marvi, who performed Baba Bulleh Shah’s “Tere Ishq Nachaya Karke Thaya Thaya”. She followed it up with Ameer Khusroo’s poetry, performing “Chaap Telaq Sab Cheen Lay”, “Ishq Atish Lai Hai Yaar Daddi” and “Mahi Yaar Gharoli”.

The last performance by Nadeem Abbass, a disciple of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, was equally mesmerising and a befitting conclusion to the evening. He presented “Mera Piya Ghar Aaya”, “Sanson Ki Mala” and “Aaj Kala Jora Paa”. The event ended at midnight.
